Fairies and Hexapuffs!!

I’ve started yet another project. I know…I totally have ADD and commitment issues when it comes to knitting! I am currently working on a shrug, an afghan, a chunky sweater, and now this beauty…

If you’re a knitter, you’ve probably already heard about the “hexa-puff” or “honeycomb” craze that has taken over knitting needles everywhere. I’ve seen pictures of this gorgeous honeycomb quilt all over the internet, but for some reason, it didn’t really resonate with me. I like to knit things that are chunky, fast, and wearable. And looks at all those hexa-puffs! That would take a girl forever…

But I’ve caught the bug! I went to Stephanie Dosen’s website http://www.tinyowlknits.wordpress.com and shelled out the $ to buy the pattern. And I have to say, these little guys are so fun to make! It takes me about 30-45 min. to complete one, so it’s the perfect project to take on the go or work away at while I watch Game of Thrones, or 16 and Pregnant, or Real Housewives of Vancouver – I know…those shows just got progressively trashy…

And if you have not watched any of Stephanie Dosen’s videos, you MUST! She is so dang quirky and fun…I swear she actually believes she’s a fairy. She is completely obsessed with her hexa-puff collection, and puts dried lavender in each one. I love her positive energy…quirky is the new cool!

So here’s the my first hexa-puffs I made last night!

If this gets old, at least I will have some fun squishy hexagons to give to my children someday!

My Asian-Princess chillin on the couch with me while I knit…

So apparently it takes 365 hexapuffs to complete a decent-sized blanket. I’m not sure if I have that in me. But maybe my dog Asia could use a comfy mat by her food and water bowls…?

Stephanie’s kitty seems to like it…

Float on…
